Sustainable Construction

Czech materials engineering meets Japan's decarbonisation push.

Mid-rise CLT and modular construction are accelerating across Japan, driven by the revised Wood Use Promotion Act and the national decarbonisation roadmap. Czech timber producers, structural engineers, façade specialists, and smart-building technology providers bring the technology, the certifications, and – since EXPO 2025 – a built reference at pavilion scale. This Working Group is where those two trajectories meet: with introductions, missions, and certification work already mapped for 2026–2027.

Five Focus Areas. No Grey Zones.

01

CLT, Mass Timber & Engineered Wood

The structural materials at the centre of Japan's mid-rise timber turn. Czech producers with certified output and the export base to scale.

02

Modular & Prefabricated Construction Systems

A direct response to Japan's construction-labour constraints. Czech engineering and Japanese demand meet in factory-built building systems.

03

Sustainable Insulation & Façade Materials

Energy performance, fire codes, and CBAM compliance in one stack. Czech producers with proven European reference projects.

04

Architectural Glass & Interior Systems

A heritage sector reinvented for high-performance buildings. Czech architectural glass meeting Japanese design standards.

05

Smart Building Sensorics & IoT

Continuous monitoring of structural health, moisture, and energy performance. Czech sensorics already protecting thousands of buildings – including the CLT structure of the Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2025.

A Group That Earns Its Place from Both Sides of the Table

For Czech producers and architects

  • Direct introductions to top-tier Japanese construction majors – Obayashi, Daisue, and their peers.
  • Navigation of JIS norms, fire codes, and seismic certification – the technical doors that close foreign suppliers out.
  • Coordinated trade missions with confirmed programmes – not individual cold outreach.
  • JETRO and prefectural liaison handled through the Hub, not chased company by company.
  • Reference advantage from the EXPO 2025 Czech Pavilion – a built precedent, not a brochure.

For Japanese majors and investors

  • Curated access to Czech CLT capacity, sustainable materials, and smart-building technology.
  • Pre-vetted suppliers with European certifications, EN standards, and reference projects.
  • EU regulatory orientation – CBAM, CRA, EN standards – condensed into briefings, not documents.
  • One coordinated counterpart for the sector – not ten separate supplier conversations.
  • Strategic entry into Central European supply chains via Czechia – with the Hub as the structured channel.

One Window. The Founding Cohort Closes 30 June 2026.

Access to this Working Group is open to Corporate Members and above with an interest in the sector. Members joining the Founding Cohort by 30 June 2026 receive permanent Founding Member status – a designation no later member can earn.
